What's the role about?

As a support worker you will be responsible for providing support to people with an intellectual and/or physical disability with the aim of engaging with their community in a meaningful way.

We are looking for people with the aforementioned qualities to join our Hamilton based team supporting individuals in the community on a one to one basis in Newcastle, Maitland and surrounds.

You can make a difference by providing living skills training, personal care, health and well-being, recreation and community integration. We encourage you to be creative and explore different ways to support people to live a good life.

A day in the life of our support workers may include;

  • Supporting with daily living skills such as cooking and shopping;
  • Transporting clients in vehicles or supporting them on public transport;
  • Promoting positive interactions and community inclusion;
  • Supporting with personal care including eating, toileting and bathing;
  • Providing support and assistance to achieve individual personal goals.

Our ideal candidate;

  • A passion for supporting people to fulfil their dreams and live their lives
  • Personal Care experience which is essential
  • The ability to bring energy and enthusiasm to others, even when those people cannot respond in the same way.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the capacity to communicate with people who may not use words to communicate
  • Common sense, an attention to detail, is reliable and team oriented
  • Likes to work with people and thrives on supporting others
  • Willing to work flexible hours including early mornings, late evenings and weekends
  • Willing to travel to either the Maitland area from the Newcastle area or visa versa

Must be available to work different rostered shifts, weekends, evening shifts and split shifts.

All our staff are required to hold a NSW driver's license (P2/full), and First Aid Certificate (or be willing to apply for one) a current Working with Children's Check (if required). As we work with vulnerable people, the successful candidate will also be required to undergo a Police Check.
