THE OPPORTUNITY

SDC's expertise is broad and our impact is far-reaching. Our capability, honed over 19 years of innovation and project delivery, covers the simple to the rigorous and complex. This role will see you working as an important part of our passionate and motivated team, providing excellent service and tangible results.

Supported by our Directors and our experienced sustainability specialists, you'll assist leading design and construction teams in achieving and exceeding sustainability ratings, performance, efficiency and comfort across a wide range of projects.

Your success path will look like this:

3 months:

• Settle well into the role
• Have a solid understanding of the SDC energy & daylight modelling systems and approach
• Actively contributing as part of the DesignBuilder team

6 months:

• Continue to contribute as part of the DesignBuilder team
• Expanded your knowledge of detailed modelling techniques
• Have a solid understanding of the SDC energy & daylight modelling systems and approach

12 months:

• Be proficient and confident in the skill of modelling
• Have gained project experience and knowledge across a variety of building types
• Honed effective management skills and be in a position to assist, guide and manage others – advancing towards the next path in your career with us.

YOU’RE WELL SUITED TO THE ROLE IF YOU:

• Have a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in ESD
• Have undertaken energy modelling assessments using DesignBuilder software (Energy & Daylight) or a similar modelling tool
• Have a qualification in environmental or building services engineering (or a related field)
• Are an excellent verbal and written communicator (we’re a client-facing consulting service after all)
• And are driven by:

  • contributing to more sustainable built environments; and
  • a commitment to improving the overall performance of buildings.

We are focussed at SDC on how we can better support our team to more harmoniously blend work with all other areas of their lives. Our flexible 75 hour working fortnight means you can work 9 or 10 days per fortnight, along with having flexibility around the hours you work each day, including your start and finish times. This flexibility extends beyond just work timing, allowing a combination of remote and in-office work.

This role also allows the opportunity to be based in metro Melbourne or regional Victoria (or even a little of both if you fancy trying out a tree change...), as SDC has offices in both Camberwell and Castlemaine.

Our bright, open-plan Melbourne office located in the heart of Camberwell is close to public transport, central to a vast array of amenities, and has on-site parking and end-of-trip facilities also available.

Our regional office is located close to the centre of Castlemaine and is situated in a pleasant garden setting, with all modern amenities.
