About the role
An exciting role to manage the animal care and customer care teams in one of Sydney’s leading not-for-profit animal welfare organisations.
The Animal Care Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Leading, supervising and supporting staff
- Induction, training, and continual development of staff
- Regular appraisals and performance management of staff
- Work closely with the Head of Animal Care to develop and improve animal care processes and procedures
- Collaborate with other departments in an efficient and respectful manner to achieve the best possible outcome for all animals in care
- Liaise and build relationships with a variety of external stakeholders including council officers, rescue groups and major donors
- Participation in community education programs, animal welfare events, media, and fundraising campaigns
- Prepare and finalise collation of paperwork and data entry for monthly accounts and Board reports
Desired skills and experience
- An AQF Level 4 animal care qualification or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 3 years leadership experience
- High level of competency in animal handling skills
- Exceptional verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Excellent at time management and multi-tasking
- Organised, flexible and attentive to the various needs of SDCH
- Ability to use initiative, assume responsibility for tasks and to resolve problems
- Strive to be proactive within the workplace, to maintain the highest quality standards of work and actively participate in workplace improvements
- A desire to continually promote companion animal welfare through education and support of the community
- A positive outlook and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the organisation
- A passion for animal welfare
- Hold an unrestricted driver’s licence
