Our Centre for Women’s, Children’s and Family Health in Campbelltown supports women and families particularly those affected by domestic violence, to make positive, safe and informed choices. We use a trauma informed, strengths based approach and integrated, wrap around service model.

Terms: maximum term part-time Counsellor role based in Campbelltown

Counsellor – Child, Adolescent & Family Team

As a Counsellor in the Child, Adolescent & Family Team you will work with both women and children post domestic violence to rebuild and strengthen the mother & child attachment relationship as well as sibling relationships using a family therapy model. The Child and Adolescent team work from an attachment based framework with trauma informed practices using a range of modalities to support women and children heal from their experience. In this role you will also work with children, young people and a significant adult care giver to increase resilience and reduce the risks for poor mental health outcomes later in life through counselling and advocacy support.

What you need to succeed?

You will be a Counsellor, Psychologist, Case Worker or Social Worker with:

  • Experience supporting families affected by trauma, DV, mental health or other forms of adversity ideally in a counselling setting
  • A trauma informed strengths based approach to working with clients
  • A clear understanding of child protection issues and mandatory reporting responsibilities
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills to balance competing demands
  • Ability to provide outstanding service to our clients in a positive, respectful and culturally sensitive way
  • Relevant tertiary (degree) qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Art Therapy or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working with children and young people is required for the Child, Adolescent & Family role
