- Offices based at Loganholme and Capalaba; travel required across both sites
- $105k - $110k inclusive of Super + Salary Packaging
About the role
Family and Child Connect services (FaCC) have been established across Queensland to support families who are at risk of entering or re-entering the child protection system. FaCC are local, community-based services that help families to care for and protect their children at home, by connecting them to the right services at the right time. Broadly, the FaCC service will undertake an initial assessment of family strengths and needs, determine an appropriate referral pathway for the family to help them achieve their goals, and follow up with services to ensure successful engagement. Typically, FaCC engage with families on a short-term basis (6 weeks).
We are seeking a Senior Practitioner to work across our Beenleigh/Bayside and Logan Family & Child Connect programs working alongside and supporting Child and Family Practitioners to support vulnerable families at risk of entering the child protection system.
Your responsibilities
- Hold a small case load of complex cases.
- Support Child and Family Practitioners with the management of their cases, including fortnightly case reviews, support at home visits, attendance at networking meetings, and to support resolving challenging situations.
- Use your expertise to provide advice and assistance to team members in assessments of risk, safety planning and trauma informed decision-making for vulnerable children and their families.
- Support the Team Leader with program and process development, review, and implementation.
- Deliver and facilitate professional development and training to the team.

Skills and experience
Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline and:
- Experience in a senior worker or leadership position.
- High level of professional accountability and desire to proactively shape yours and your colleague’s future development.
- Holistic strengths-based approach to achieve lasting change with clients from all walks of life.
- Capacity to mentor and support colleagues to improve practice outcomes.
- A passion for continuous improvement and implementing industry best practice into service delivery.
- Excellent understanding of child protection issues & client vulnerabilities, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development
- Strong skills and experience in assessing, identifying, and addressing child protection concerns.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
- Holistic strengths-based approach to achieve lasting change.
