Great opportunity to work for one of the most loved charities in Australia. Based in Mount Waverley, the Accounts Payable Officer will have well-honed relationship and key stakeholder skills in order to effectively work within the wider Finance team who support The Salvation Army stores. This is a 12 month contract.

The key focus of the role will be to:

  • Process accounts payable invoices and review and verify for payments
  • Process the reconciliation of suppliers' statements
  • Data input of fixed asset purchases
  • Effectively liaise with internal staff and respond promptly to queries from other departments
  • Respond to all designated suppliers' queries
  • Prepare month/year-end journals
  • Maintain and regularly update Debtors details
  • Ensure that Accounts Receivable Ledger/Chart is updated frequently
  • Assist with the production of various management reports
  • Prepare monthly accruals in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist with month end and year end closing and reporting
  • Prepare monthly audit and maintenance reports

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in a similar role within a multi-faceted organisation with diverse operations and programs. A Diploma in accounting is preferred, but not essential.

Key capabilities include:

  • Handles finances and records accurately and in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Prioritises work and addresses what is most important
  • Uses available tools effectively to assist with planning and organising
  • Completes accurate reports, logs, case notes and files
  • Engages and contributes to team activities including discussions
