We are seeking motivated and dedicated disability support workers for our NDIS program. You will be working as part of a cohesive team that promotes and maintains independence of our NDIS funded residents by providing them with meaningful opportunities to engage in their local community. About the Role

We are seeking motivated and dedicated disability support workers for our NDIS program. You will be working as part of a cohesive team that promotes and maintains independence of our NDIS funded residents by providing them with meaningful opportunities to engage in their local community. You will strive to build strong and positive relationships with our residents and deliver services with compassion, integrity and dignity. These roles will be based at our centre in Footscray.

You will have

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability/Mental Health or 12 months experience
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Understanding of working with clients who have complex mental health needs
  • Computer literacy and experience with documentation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - Mandatory Worker Training "Quality Safeguarding and You" certificate

Desirable but not essential

  • A current unrestricted drivers license and access to own car for work

You will be required to:

  • Support people with disabilities, as individuals, to become part of their community and develop a support network
  • To help prevent social isolation and encourage participation in outings and community activities
  • Support to be achieved within a framework of respect for the individual needs of the customer while promoting personal choice
  • Activities could include accompanying customers on appointments, recreational activities, visiting family and friends, shopping, attendance at community groups and events
  • Developing support plans and liaising with support networks
  • Maintenance of appropriate administration activities
  • Other duties as required
