The Opportunity

As the Senior Project Coordinator you will work closely with our Team Head and Program Manager of the Strep A and Rheumatic Heart Disease reach team to deliver high quality research outcomes for the newly funded NHMRC program of work, dubbed STopping Acute Rheumatic Fever Infections to Strengthen Health (STARFISH).

STARFISH will work closely with participating Indigenous communities over the next five years to provide a ground-breaking understanding of Strep A transmission and environmental health interventions in terms of their ability to interrupt the Strep A chain of transmission and reduce the risk of acute rheumatic fever.

The Role

In this varied position, you will work closely with the Program Manager and Team Lead to provide team and project management support.

Specifically, you will:

  • Assist with all aspects of project planning, development, implementation, and establishment for a range of research initiatives across the STARFISH program of work.
  • Support the development of budgets, forecasting and financial management for the research program.
  • Assist in identifying new grant opportunities, manage successful grants and preparing reports requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and research project site staff, service providers and communities.

As a valued member of the team, you will enjoy working within a highly motivated and dynamic team to deliver results utilising your extensive experience in assisting to manage complex projects, ideally in a not-for-profit or research setting.

Conveniently located in the Perth Children’s Hospital, this full-time opportunity will be offered at a 2-year contract with scope for extension. For this role we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours and/or flexible start and finish times, dependant on the successful candidate.

About You

Your priority will be to use your strong project management and organisational skills to deliver high quality research outcomes. The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:

  • Experience in providing project or organisational support in a similar position.
  • Demonstrated capacity to coordinate complex research projects, across multiple sites to meet project timelines
  • Evidence of writing capabilities (grants submissions/reports, ethics submissions/reports, and publications).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and control budgets and to deliver organisational and individual goals on time and within budget.
  • Availability for travel for an extended period to research site locations.
