Led by Bishop Michael Morrissey, Geraldton is one of the three largest Catholic Diocese in Australia. Centacare Family Services offers a range of family relationships and community services to individuals, couples and families. This support is provided by a staff of approx. 50 professionals as well as the dedication of nearly 60 volunteers.

 Centacare operates from five locations, with the central office situated in Geraldton. Located 424 kilometres north of Perth with a population of over 40,000, Greater Geraldton has been named one of Australia’s regional capitals.

 This role reports to the Bishop of Geraldton, through a Board of Management, and has responsibility for leading and managing this Catholic agency to ensure that service delivery is maintained; of high-quality; and in keeping with Catholic Social Teaching principles.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall operation of Centacare Family Services in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of the organisation, and the philosophy and ethos of the Catholic Church.

You will ensure the viability of Centacare through the overarching management of service provisions, ensuring the availability of adequate funding, and that services meet their respective KPI’s and compliance requirements.

In the position of CEO, you will also ensure the relevance of Centacare service provisions, ensuring that the organisation is adaptable and responsive to the changing needs of our communities.

Key Relationships

This position reports to the Bishop of Geraldton through the Board of Management.

  • General Manager Administration
  • General Manager Operations
  • Executive Manager Finance
  • Family Relationship Centre Manager
  • Research and Grants Officer
  • Executive Assistant

An organisation chart will be provided as we step through this project.

Location and Travel

This position is located in the main office at 3 Maitland Street, Geraldton, WA. Given the nature of this leadership role, a significant amount of travel within the Diocese should be anticipated.

Conditions of Employment

  • The remuneration package will comprise salary of $150,000 to $160,000 plus superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.
  • Centacare is a PBI employer and can offer tax benefits to an employee. However, as such benefits rely on personal choice & circumstance, we leave it to the individual to calculate the ‘grossed up’ value to their package.
  • Four weeks Annual Leave as well as the close down period between Christmas and New Year.
  • The initial contract period is two years; and renewable subject to a performance review.
  • Standard six-month probationary period of employment
  • Reasonable relocation assistance (if required) will be negotiated.
  • National Police Clearance within the past 12 months or if less than 5 years residence in Australia, a Police Clearance from previous country.
  • Current WA Working with Children Check.
  • Current WA Driver’s Licence.
  • Desirable: membership to professional organisations

Selection Criteria

We invite expressions of interest from people who align with the following:

  • Understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and the commitment to work within the philosophy and ethos of Centacare.
  • Senior management experience, in a not for profit organisation, in the delivery of social service programmes. This experience will ideally include:
    • Financial management of Government and other contracts
    • Writing submissions for funding
  • Ability to create, engage in and sustain effective, positive, and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communicational skills, both written and verbal.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Social Science related discipline together with a history of ongoing personal and professional learning.
