This is a part-time 12-month contract opportunity working 3 days / week (21 hours) and will be based at Uniting's Counselling and Mediation program in Wollongong.
Must be available to work Wednesdays. Other days can be flexible.
Likely extension following initial 12 months.
Uniting Counselling and Mediation has a long history of high-quality service delivery, being well regarded, and connected with Family Law stakeholders.
As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, you’ll provide a range of interventions to families’ post-separation who are experiencing various levels of conflict and are unable to reach agreements regarding parenting arrangements for their children and/or the distribution of property. These interventions include mediation, therapeutic mediation, legally assisted mediation and child inclusive practice within the context of the Family Law Act. You will be working with a dynamic team of therapists and FDRPs to support separated families.
Essential
Accredited by the Australian Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, or eligibility to apply for accreditation. Applicants who are unsure of eligibility should contact the AGD Practitioner Accreditation Unit. Uniting will require evidence of eligibility.
Desirable
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families are overrepresented in this program and the child protection system. Appropriate cultural knowledge and understanding is important to deliver effectively in this role. Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged.
