Uniting (NSW.ACT)

About the Opportunity

This is a full-time permanent position and can be based across various sites in Sydney.

As the Practice Lead - Counselling in our Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Directorate you are responsible for leading high quality and consistent practice approaches both in the Uniting Counselling and Mediation programs and more broadly across the CYF Directorate. The Practice Lead role is responsible for leading program design, developing and implementing new/revised practice models and driving change initiatives to best meet the needs of client groups. You will actively support an organisational culture that seeks opportunities to improve and proactively identifies potential barriers to achieving outcomes. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to find creative and sustainable solutions to problems and contribute to systems improvements for counselling programs across the CYF Directorate.

Who we are

Uniting’s Children, Youth and Families Directorate want children, young people and families to lead flourishing lives: to be physically and psychologically safe and healthy, enjoy their full rights as citizens, and live in communities that promote wellbeing.

Counselling and mediation services in CYF offer support for families experiencing separation and divorce, financial difficulties, relationship and gambling issues and work to enhance communication, promote productive decisions about the future, ensuring the voices of children are heard and that everyone’s safety and mental health is supported.

What do I need to succeed?

It is expected that you will possess excellent skills at navigating a complex organisation, forging relationships, and managing relationships through influence rather than direct authority as required.

You will have more than 10 years’ experience in delivering counselling programs/services and be a highly organised and motivated leader able to demonstrate your ability to lead, develop and support people in their practice. You will have experience in program design and delivering change initiatives to improve programs and practice. You will have a broad understanding and experience in counselling practice for children, young people, couples and families and have worked in a variety of settings. You will be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the ongoing development of program quality and practice initiatives both for Uniting Counselling and Mediation programs and the broader CYF Directorate.

We are bold, imaginative, respectful and compassionate.
