ROle Overview:

The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works under the supervision of the Allied Health Professional to deliver a therapeutic program to clients that has been designed by the Allied Health Professional. The AHA will follow the therapeutic plan and discuss outcomes and progress against the plan with the Allied Health Professional.

The AHA operates in a community services environment, including individual homes and supporting the group based activity sessions. The AHA is required to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate friendly, caring, and genuine support for consumers, ensuring their well-being.
  • Foster therapeutic relationships with consumers to enhance their overall experience.
  • Support the delivery of lifestyle and wellness programs to promote a healthy lifestyle.
  • Prioritise consumer needs, preferences, and goals when delivering services.
  • Maintain an accurate equipment register, track allocations, and manage equipment returns efficiently.
  • Regularly clean equipment and perform stock takes to ensure availability.
  • Identify and promptly report broken equipment, requesting replacements as necessary.
  • Communicate sensitively and openly with consumers, their families, advocates, and colleagues, providing prompt and courteous responses to enquiries.
  • Understand and address cultural and linguistic differences that may hinder CALD clients' access to appropriate support.
  • Escalate all consumer-related issues to a Coordinator, maintain electronic client management systems, and uphold excellent time management while completing tasks efficiently.
  • Work as an integral team member of the team and in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
  • Current First Aid Certificate (essential)
  • Current SA Drivers Licence (essential)
  • Reliable vehicle and comprehensive vehicle insurance (essential)
  • Current DHS NDIS Worker Screening Check (essential)

Skills & Experience:

  • Supporting allied health, fitness or lifestyle community programs
  • Working with older people from diverse backgrounds, inclusive of cognitive impairment and/or reduced mobility or function
  • Supporting the installation, education and application of equipment as directed by an Allied Health Professional
