Part-time (0.6 - three days per week) Education Support Level 1 Range 2 at a public high school. This role supports the engagement of young people and families from CALD backgrounds, in particular those from African-Australian backgrounds. Cultural supports including:

• Implementing new or improved partnerships with community organisations, through participating in existing local community networks and forums.
• With the support of the Assistant Principal and Student Services Leading Teacher, planning cultural safety and teacher awareness training for teachers to support them to effectively engage with students and their families

Parental / family supports including;

• Exploring and implementing strategies to assist parents, carers and students to address issues that are barriers to participation and engagement in school.
• Facilitating parental engagement events and activities to build stronger connections and to create a welcoming and inclusive school environment.

Student supports including:

• Working with students on an individual and small group basis to improve attendance, behaviour and academic performance.

• Promoting student engagement and leadership opportunities to foster a sense of value, identity and belonging.
• Participating in team meetings.

• In consultation with the school, and with support, conduct home and workplace visits if necessary to address barriers to student attendance and family communication with school.
• Implement programs to support and engage students and their families that have been identified as being at risk.
• Maintain confidentiality and duty of care.
• Follow Child Safe Standards and Mandatory Reporting procedures.
• Plan and facilitate community and school-based activities, including during lunch and after school.
