The Upper Murray community is seeking to rethink its economic future, and plan for diverse, sustainable, and innovative activity in established and new industries. This follows a number of changes to its economy and population, including changes to the agriculture, forestry and tourism sectors, the impact of drought and more recently bushfire and COVID-19, demographic changes and growth in sectors such as healthcare and social assistance.
To investigate the options for the future of the economy, Upper Murray Inc. is seeking to employ a Project Manager who will identify local assets and potential areas of strength for future development. The Project Manager will assist the community in developing those areas of strength into proposals for development and investment.
The position will be supported by the project partners, Upper Murray Inc.; Towong Shire Council; Snowy Valleys Shire Council; Tumbarumba Chamber of Commerce], Upper Murray Community Recovery Committees; Corryong Community Neighbourhood Centre; and the Victorian Government Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.
The incumbent will require a good understanding of the Upper Murray; North-East Victoria; Snowy Mountains and Riverina region and proven experience in collaboration, building relationships and project management preferably in an economic development setting. A relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience is preferred.
