About the role

The Chirnside Park office of VACCA delivers a range of out of home care services as well as family support services to Aboriginal children and families in the East region.

The Foster Care program is part of VACCA’s out of home care services at Chirnside Park in the East region. Children and young people in foster care range from 0-18 years. They can be in voluntary and statutory placements with appropriately screened, trained, and assessed foster carers.

The case manager works alongside the foster care family to deliver care planning for the child/ren in care, that they remain safe and well cared for. Case managers ensure that Foster Carers receive high level support and guidance and that their views are heard within the program and in the planning for our clients.

VACCA aims to reunify children back to families where possible.

Key Aspects to success in this role are...

In order to get the best out of this opportunity, the following things would be helpful to your success;

  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities
  • Demonstrated experience in case management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice experience in the child welfare field
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate documents and reports e.g., case notes, incident reports, court reports and work reports that meet the audience needs.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge in using system CRISSP, CRIS
  • Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Worker and/or substantial experience in these fields is desirable
  • Requirement: Current COVID-19 vaccination (Including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a valid Victorian Drivers Licence
