About the role

In this pivotal role, you will lead a dynamic team of professionals committed to providing culturally sensitive support and services to Aboriginal families affected by family violence. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate counselling, advocacy, and case management services
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices, policies, and legal requirements in addressing family violence
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community organisations and government agencies
  • Providing supervision, guidance, and professional development opportunities to your team
  • Promoting a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to supporting Aboriginal families 

About You

To excel in this position, you must possess a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding family violence within the Aboriginal community. Your lived experience or strong connections to Aboriginal culture and communities will be highly valued. Additionally, you should have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counselling) and significant experience in family violence services
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong commitment to self-determination and empowerment of Aboriginal communities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence
