This position will be responsible for supporting the Executive Manager, Members Engagement and Advisory Services in driving high impact, member engagement and advisory activities with a particular focus on supporting the implementation of VACCHO’s Member Engagement Strategy.

The position will coordinate project activity, develop, and maintain high quality project documentation, and support communication and engagement activities. This role will shadow the Executive Manager, gaining valuable experience in stakeholder engagement and insights into the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the implementation the Strategic Member Engagement Strategy.
    • Contribute and support the Executive Manager, Member Engagement and Advisory Services with the successful delivery of the following annual meetings;
    • VACCHO Members meetings,
    • VACCHO CEO Network Meetings,
    • VACCHO Annual General Meeting.
  • Build knowledge of Members, their Boards and activities.
    • Maintain Member Information and Member Service Profiles, including Constitutions, Strategic Plans and Annual Reports.
    • Maintain a VACCHO Directory of advisory services and supports available to Members.
  • VACCHO Internal Functions and Responsibilities.
    • Coordinate and support the induction presentations on the history of the ACCO sector, the breadth of services of the sector, and VACCHO Members in particular.
    • Undertake continuous improvement activity by using VACCHO’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework to measure outcomes.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with Member organisations and / or stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to maintain records, establish systems, write reports and collate information.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management) combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Understands the Aboriginal Community Controlled Model & the sector in Victoria.
  • Understanding of Board Governance in the not for profit sector.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and health.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal peoples, Communities, and organisations, in a culturally safe, and appropriate, manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of LGBTQIASB+ issues and experience with LGBTQIASB+ people via professional engagement, employment or lived experience.

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage sensitive information, maintain confidentiality and always remain impartial.

  • A flexible approach, with strong organisational and planning skills, including the ability to effectively manage time and workload, prioritise tasks, and meet changing circumstances, competing demands, interruptions, and deadlines.

Key selection criteria specific to the role

  • Experience working with Member Organisations.
  • Willingness to participate in Governance training opportunities.
  • Ability to travel throughout Victoria.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience relevant to this role as described above.
