The Venus Bay Community Centre (VBCC), incorporated in 2008, is a registered Neighbourhood House and not-for-profit charity, and leases a purpose made building from the South Gippsland Shire Council. With free membership, the Centre serves as a community hub for Venus Bay, Tarwin Lower and Walkerville. We are the only generalist organisation in the district, with others having a specialist focus: sport, community safety, religion, health and so forth.

You will successfully:

• Manage all aspects of the Community Recycling Enterprise including:

• • Accepting donations
  • Sorting & storage
  • Pricing and stock management
  • Visual merchandising
  • Cash handling and point of sale procedures

• Assist with volunteer engagement, management and recruitment
• Increase volunteer engagement and drive increased sales to ensure the position is financially sustainable.
• Investigate opportunities for other avenues of sales and distribution of good (for example markets, upcycling, online sales, donations to other organisations, etc.)
• Drive increased sales that will allow for the position to become financially sustainable
• Foster and lead people of different skill levels to make a positive contribution
• Manage social media profile of Community Recycling Enterprise
• Be able to work Saturdays

You will have:

• Retail experience essential
• Understanding of visual merchandising, stock management including vintage/antique wares
• Excellent communication skills
• Networking and community engagement
• Computer and social media experience
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with a range of different people
• Good time management skills
• Understanding of social enterprise and neighbourhood houses
• Business and administration skills
• Can do attitude along with a sense of humour
