As our Coordinator of Social Work, you will provide leadership, support and advice for social work services and practice within WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Kimberley, including participation in interagency groups and collaboration for better outcomes for the Kimberley community. This position is located within Broome, working with the Broome Hospital Executive team and the Regional Medical Director in delivering the region’s social welfare program. Regional travel will be required to support the Social Worker team located at sites across the Kimberley.
The WACHS Kimberley social work team contributes to the broader agenda of social responsibility, health equity and safer communities. Kimberley Social Workers form part of the multidisciplinary team collaborating with the medical, nursing, allied health and Aboriginal Welfare Officer team to promote and provide emotional and practical support to individuals and their families. They advocate, refer, and liaise on behalf of individuals and families for appropriate support services to improve psychological and social functioning and ensure each patient’s social, emotional and cultural needs are met.
