About the Position

The Risk Officer, with the support of Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) staff, will partake in the deployment of the Diligent GRC software and the delivery of training.

The role will be involved in the review of WEHI's risk framework to ensure the software and risk approach are aligned.

The position will also assist with the development of routine GRC reporting.

The role may involve other risk support functions such as assisting with the coordination of internal audit, scoping business continuity requirements, assisting with compliance projects and critical incident management activities.

WEHI is offering the successful candidate, a 35 hour working week with flexible work arrangements, salary packaging and the option of extra super. 

Selection Criteria

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Health Science (health, safety and environment) or legal preferred but will consider other higher education courses
  • Relevant professional experience in risk, compliance or audit management and reporting
  • Experience with communicating and supporting others
  • Familiarity with software tools, with experience preferred
  • Familiarity with risk management in a research or business environment
  • Understanding of the AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Guidelines, preferred but not essential
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation of Victoria, again preferred but not essential

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to guide and influence people
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Ability to work well individually, as well as part of a team
  • Analytical and numerical skills with a good eye for detail
  • Sound planning and organisation skills
  • Willingness to learn, interpret and master new skills

​​​Terms of Appointment

This position is an ongoing role in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee (PSE) Level 6 ($85,395 - $92,435).

Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
