THE PROGRAM MANAGER will provide leadership and work with the AWAVA Advisory Group and WESNET to deliver the aims and objectives of AWAVA.
On a day to day basis the Program Manager will be accountable for coordinating, managing and administering all the program operations, compliance with legal and contract obligations, staff and program management functions of AWAVA.
AWAVA and WESNET seek a motivated, independent, innovative person with senior experience at a high level. We require a demonstrated background in leadership, managerial and organisational development, resource management, developing and implementing external communications strategies with various stakeholders, media liaison and strategic planning.
The successful applicant will provide support to WESNET and the AWAVA Advisory Group in relation to program development and review of operational systems and processes, in addition to demonstrating an understanding of the gendered nature of violence against women and understanding issues relevant to marginalised and vulnerable groups of women in the Australian community context.
The Australian Violence Against Women Alliance (AWAVA) is one of six National Women’s Alliances funded by the Australian Government.
AWAVA’s key area of focus is combating all forms of violence against women, to ‘ensure that all women and children are able to live free from all forms of violence and abuse’. The Alliance recognises that gender violence is both a consequence and cause of gender inequity in all sectors of society and so it must be addressed by promoting women’s empowerment.
AWAVA is managed by the Women’s Services Network (WESNET) who will be the employer for this position.
