Canberra Community Law (CCL) is a leading not for profit community legal centre in the ACT and its region committed to social justice and human rights. We are seeking a qualified Social Worker to work in our Socio-Legal Practice Clinic (SLP Clinic) which provides intensive social work and legal services to highly disadvantaged clients.

CCL is looking for an experienced social worker to work in our Socio-Legal Practice (SLP) Clinic. The SLP Clinic provides combined legal and social work services to people who face a high degree of vulnerability and have significant barriers to achieving a successful resolution of their legal matter. The primary purpose of the SLP Clinic is to address homelessness especially for people with disability and people affected by family violence. The SLP Clinic also assists clients with other legal problems including disability discrimination and social security matters.

The successful applicant working in tandem with lawyers will be able to utilise their expertise to make a real difference to disadvantaged clients.  The position also involves participation in key networks and forums.

Ideally, this position will suit a highly motivated social worker with the willingness and capacity to work closely with lawyers to assist clients to address non-legal issues related to their legal problems with the objective of supporting successful resolution of legal matters.

  • Initial assessment and referral;
  • Psycho-social assessments and the preparation of reports
  • Intensive social work services; and
  • Participation in key networks and forums.

Salary range is $81 141 to $84 787 per annum pro rata plus superannuation and salary packaging.

A three month probationary period applies.
