About the opportunity

At Wellways, Consumer Directed Services (CDS) are services which are led and funded at the individual consumer level. In this context, the consumer is empowered to direct their supports in a way which meets their individual needs and aspirations. Initiatives such as; iCare programs (Lifetime Care and Support Scheme, Dust Disease and Workers Care), private fee-paying arrangements and other disability related initiatives, create the environment in which these services are delivered.

Support Workers are the front line of our Consumer Directed Services, providing consumers with the personalised, evidence-based supports that assist consumers to meet their individual needs and achieve their aspirations. Accordingly, Support Workers deliver a wide range of supports to support a participants activities of daily living like personal care, continence management, feeding and mobilising. Support workers may also be required to support with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living such as companionship, transport, shopping, meal preparation, domestic assistance, medication management

We are looking for an experienced Support Worker who will enjoy supporting our participant with daily activities. The successful candidate will be someone with flexible availability (highly desirable) and a commitment to providing a reliable and person-centred support to our participant.

You're a passionate, empathetic and caring individual who is looking to make an invaluable positive impact on the lives of others. You relish a challenge and new experience. You're calm, collected and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to start helping those in need. You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker but are also able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit team.

What do you need?

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services or related fields (an advantage but not mandatory)
  • A current valid Driver's License and a registered, insured vehicle
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check [less than 12 months old]
  • Satisfactory Working with Children Check
  • Manual handling training would be desired
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • Willing to work flexible hours on a fortnightly roster
  • Availability and willingness to use personal smartphone (iPhone or Andriod)
  • Current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Workers Check (NDISWC)
  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical exemption
