Wesley Mission Queensland's ParentsNext Program is a federally funded program that works with parents with young children who have been out of work for more than 6 months and assists these parents to identify and move towards their education and employment goals. Part of this process can be about finding a suitable activity, to build their capacity, to reconnect with their community and establish support networks.

The role of the Community Support Worker is to develop a plan with the parent around their education and employment goals, to manage their caseload of clients, work as a team and develop community network relationships.

This role forms part of the ParentsNext team, working across the Brisbane south east employment region.

Experience and/or qualifications within the human service field are essential.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the Wesley Charter, and Wesley Mission Queensland's Vision, Values and Mission.
  • Receive referrals from Services Australia and connect with program participants to develop participations plans.
  • Actively engage with participants to identify their education and employment goals encompassing their strengths, challenges and their ability to be work ready.
  • Empower and assist participants to maintain their participation, activities and obligations under the compliance framework.
  • Meet role specific KPIs for the ParentsNext Program which include attendance, participation, commencement and work readiness of participants.
  • Complete administration requirements of the role including but not limited to data recording, KPIs, development of activity options and report writing
  • Connect and collaborate with community service and training providers, employers, and other government services as referral and support options to assist participants to meet their educational and employment needs
  • Work as part of a team and the wider WMQ community
  • Attend and participate in organisational management meetings as required.
  • Actively participate and contribute to reporting requirements where required.
  • Other associated duties as directed.
