Helen Haines MP, Independent Federal Member for Indi has a requirement for a Policy Adviser
This exciting position in the Office of Helen Haines MP, Independent Federal Member for Indi is to support Helen and her office in all areas of policy and electorate business.
It is an opportunity to be part of Helen’s team working to bring about changes and improvements on key issues for the electorate of Indi.
You will have a well-developed understanding of the intricacies of the political environment, high level research skills, with the ability to develop policy statements, papers, submissions, press releases, policy briefs and proposals as well as manage and conduct negotiations with government, shadow ministerial offices and staff, cross bench staff and stakeholders on policy specific to the Indi electorate and the Nation.
Your experience is reinforced by a tertiary qualification in Politics, Law, Economics, or Social Science, or similar.
This is a dynamic position which requires a high degree of loyalty, versatility and the ability to maintain confidentiality on behalf of the MP and of those who contact the MP’s office
The position requires travel to Canberra to provide support during the sitting of Parliament and other places as necessary.
Reporting to Helen’s Chief of Staff, the position requires you to work cooperatively within a cohesive team at multiple locations.
Remuneration is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2016-2019.
