About us

The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.). We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Owners of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and we take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Country.

The Corporation offers a range of cultural services including environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research, and cultural consultations.

  • Position: Manager, Corporate Services
  • Full-time, ongoing

Purpose

The Manager, Corporate Services is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of office administration and property and facilities, people and culture, IT, media and communications and other operational management areas of the corporation.

As part of the executive leadership team, the Manager will work closely with the CEO and the Manager, Business Operations.

The position oversees up to eight direct reports and may be required to act for the CEO during short absences. The role provides an essential link between staff developing and delivering services and Elders, the CEO and the organisation’s strategic direction.

Key responsibilities

  1. Oversee the development and delivery of organisational functions to ensure they are aligned with the organisation’s strategic directions and achieving best outcomes for the Wurundjeri Corporation and community.
  2. As a key member of the CEO’s leadership team, work collaboratively with the CEO, Business Operations Manager and the Board to articulate and realise the organisation’s strategic directions.
  3. Manage the Corporation’s corporate services including oversight of people and cultural (including HR, occupational, health and safety, and wellbeing), IT services (including several new major IT projects), office and administration functions, (including extensive facilities and property management) and media and communications activities.
  4. Guide the corporate services team and functions through a time of growth and transition at WWCHAC.
  5. Support your team members in developing effective annual plans, budgets, team capabilities, structures, efficient delivery and reporting.
  6. Manage risk management and work to ensure that risk-mitigation is put in place.
  7. Identify new business opportunities, system and operational improvements and development of career pathways and progression plans for indigenous and non-indigenous staff.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in corporate services management.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of business processes, systems and tools.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategy, analyse and interpret policy and procedures.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise multiple tasks and to work productively with limited supervision.
  • High-level communication, written and customer service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to conduct duties in a confidential and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal cultures and matters including cultural safety and social issues.
  • Ability to support positive working relationships with Wurundjeri elders and members.
  • Team-focused and supportive.
  • Creative problem solver, committed to continuous improvement.
  • Can build effective and long-lasting relationships.

Skills and qualifications

  • A degree or an appropriate tertiary qualification in business management, human resources and/or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading and developing high-performing teams, particularly during a period of transition and intensive disruption.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • High level ability to understand and interpret contracts and working with funded organisations to meet their contractual requirements.
  • Advanced ability in managing complex human resources matters and providing strategic direction and leadership on complex people issues.
  • Advanced ability in understanding and providing guidance and leadership on complex, revenue-based budgets.
  • Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft 365 Office Suite and in leading an effective and productive hybrid workforce.
