About the Centre
YMCA Victoria's People & Culture Team is a supportive high performing team that leads the organisation to develop our people to be healthy, happy, capable and inspired. People & Culture incorporates Human Resources and, Learning and Development.
Key Elements of the Role
The General Manager – People & Culture will drive the creation of a people strategy that drives the achievement of the YMCA Corporate Strategy, and encompasses employee and industrial relations, organisational development, learning and development, talent management, workforce planning, and reward and performance.
- Partners with the Executive and Senior Leaders to shape the broad “people" strategy for the organisation.
- Leads the People and Culture team to support YMCA to develop a workforce that is highly engaged, customer responsive and drives the organisation's performance
- Leads the organisational development, change and culture within YMCA to support the organisation's strategic priorities
- Ensures YMCA's policies and systems for managing people and volunteers comply with legislative requirements and enable efficient, flexible resource management.
- Designs reward and performance systems and processes that attract, develop and retain the best available talent in the marketplace
- Ensures compliance with internal HR policies and procedures and relevant employment legislation to ensure that legislative employments standards are met eg. employees are paid accurately in accordance with legislation
- Focuses on continuous improvement and driving innovations that are aligned to the YMCA Corporate Strategy
Selection Criteria
- Extensive experience leading people and culture functions in large complex organisations
- A deep and broad understanding of people and culture functions including HR strategy, employee and industrial relations, organisational development, learning and development, talent management and reward and performance
- Extensive experience coaching and influencing organisational leaders to drive strategy and operational excellence through people systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of organisational risk management and quality improvement systems including Lean/Six Sigma
- Ability to think strategically as well as execute and embed initiatives operationally
- Exceptional communications skills, written and verbal
- Exceptional ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders
Qualifications
YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:
- A national criminal history check;
- An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
- Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws;
- ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
- Two reference checks.
