YMCA Vocational School: South Brisbane Junior Campus is recruiting a VET Lead (Vocational Education & Training) on a Permanent, Full Time Basis located in Acacia Ridge, QLD.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of a VET Lead is focused on providing job creation and job seeker abilities through the facilitation of vocational and education training to vulnerable young people.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited too):
- Coordinate the development and implementation of training and employment pathways which lead students into school- based traineeships/apprenticeships (SBATs) and employment.
- Build external partnerships with prospective local employers as appropriate to support the VET in School (VETis) Programs, SBATs and part-time /casual employment.
- Facilitate the retention of training and employment partnerships that benefit quality outcomes for students and program participants through the VETis Programs and SBATs as outlined in the Y VET Career Education Framework.
- Assist in the delivery of wellbeing and enrichment programs as appropriate.
- Create, implement and evaluate a process to select students to participate in VETis and nationally accredited certificate programs as per the Y VET Career Education Framework.
- Participate in prescribed programs including Professional Development and Review, to develop your practice as a VET Lead and expertise in VET, employability and career development.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal applicant will have a passion for giving disadvantaged people in our community a real opportunity to realise their potential in body, mind and spirit.
This candidate will also meet the following selection criteria:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Career Development or similar qualification; or significant demonstrated experience in Youth Work and VET and working toward the completion of the above certificate or similar.
- Significant demonstrated recent experience in working with young people in a VET environment who are at risk.
- Demonstrated ability in the creation of comprehensive industry-specific programs that provide participants with hands-on experiences and opportunities to link with genuine employment opportunities.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the labour market, employability skills and job creation and acquisition strategies; the ability to impart this knowledge to students in engaging and creative ways.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to provide high quality reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong, effective relationships with diverse groups.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate; or willingness to obtain
- Positive Notice Blue Card; Or willingness to obtain
