ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Learning Manager (Design & Delivery) is responsible for managing the learning pathways and programs at YCA ensuring they’re fit for purpose and overseeing special projects related to learning. You’ll also be an energetic and engaging facilitator engaging and delivering our programs to build capacity for young people. You’ll support the development of YCA’s ecosystem and contribute to our educator community of practice and oversee and deliver educator professional development to empower educators to run the programs independently. The role will also ensure Young Change Agents facilitators have the skills and resources to deliver these programs to young people.

KEY PARTS OF THE ROLE:

Learning Design (35%)

Manage the learning pathways and programs at YCA including new content, iterations based on feedback, as well as program-specific design adaption ensuring it’s fit for purpose for the cohort (e.g. youth living with disability or adapting to age and learning abilities). You’ll support and/or lead our special projects related to learning, such as credentials, curriculum mapping/alignment, co-design, accreditation, learning profiling, and evidence of learning. This role works closely with our learning tech and product team and you’ll provide guidance and support here as needed.

Capacity Building for Educators and Young People (35%)

Deliver workshops and facilitate activities for educators and young people. This might include co-designing and testing programs you are developing or reviewing, developing and delivering educator professional development, facilitating at YCA and external/ecosystem events, and assisting with YCA program delivery and facilitation. This will be supported by NSW Program Manager.

Ecosystem Development (15%)

Identifying and developing partnerships to scale Young Change Agents’ work across NSW including setting up meetings with key stakeholders including the Department of Education, Catholic and Independent networks, startup and social enterprise sector, industry, and university sectors. Creating and presenting proposals. Identifying grants and supporting grant submissions and working with marketing to amplify the stories of educator champions and young alumni.

Community of Practice (10%)

You’ll seek opportunities to develop YCA’s community of practice for educators and support educators with access to our licenced programs. This includes having an active engagement in discussions within our online communities and events (which you will lead) to provide advice and support to educators on how to best implement entrepreneurial education in their schools. This work will be supported by our Community Coordinator.

Capacity Building for Young Change Agents Staff (5%)

Ensure that YCA facilitators and staff understand and can implement best practice learning and teaching approaches relevant to YCA programs. Working collaboratively with the Product Manager and CEO/COO to ensure staff are supported to deliver programs. This will also include maintaining internal documentation and systems for learning.

KEY ATTRIBUTES FOR THIS ROLE:

  • You can’t think of anything more exciting than supporting the next generation to solve real world problems through social entrepreneurship.
  • You have 3 years experience in curricula design or learning design (ideally with experience in entrepreneurial education and design thinking).
  • You understand what it's like to be a school teacher, from how they approach lesson plans and assessments, to standing in front of a classroom (or camera). Familiarity with the Australian curriculum is a plus.
  • You understand learning and teaching principles. You can turn broad objectives and learning outcomes into individual modules, lesson plans, and learning activities which other people can facilitate.
  • You like refining programs, developing new learning content and linking learning to accreditation/pathways. You enjoy adapting content to suit different learners, needs and contexts.
  • You are comfortable with mucking in – facilitating or training teachers one day, developing curriculum the next, and meeting with partners to build the eco-system for learning.
  • You are open to travel including across NSW and Australia if required.
  • You are willing to experiment and learn. You seek to improve by trying things and reflecting, and/or seeking feedback and input from others.
  • You are tech savvy and have experience with elearning, webinars and other digital learning tools.
  • You are an expert communicator and engaging in your facilitation style. You are confident enough to facilitate in all situations and empathetic enough to change your style as required for the audience.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Australian Driver’s License and registered vehicle (preferable)
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
  • Ability to travel for program delivery in NSW
  • This role has the flexibility to work from home or a coworking space when not delivering programs in schools however we do require someone who is based in NSW (ideally a metropolitan area)

Young Change Agents is a social enterprise that helps youth see problems as opportunities through the lens of social enterprise. We use design thinking and lean start-up methodologies to build the mindset, skillset, and toolset of youth. Partnering with industry and government alike we’ve been supporting students and educators across Australia since 2016.

We’re looking for an outstanding learning designer to build community and capacity for educators and youth across NSW.
