Atyenhenge Atherre Aboriginal Corporation (AAAC) exists to realise the vision and aspirations of the people of Ltyentye Apurte for a strong, independent, and self-determined future for all. Our commitment to local decision making is at the core of everything we do, it directs our focus and enhances our impact.
We do this by amplifying the voices of the community, strengthening leadership, reinforcing culture, building prosperity, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
The Program Coordinator (Junior Ranger Program) works closely with the Atyenhenge Atherre Aboriginal Corporation (AAAC) management team to manage the Junior Ranger Program funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency. The Junior Ranger Program follows on from a very successful Alternative Engagement Program piloted by AAAC for young people at risk of anti-social behaviour. The program started in 2021 on a shoe-string budget with extraordinary community / stakeholder support and was then funded by National Indigenous Australians Agency until December 2024. The Junior Ranger Program includes all the valuable lessons learned from the Alternative Engagement Programs and widens the scope to include more school aged youth. This community led program is exciting in its scope, delivering culturally appropriate activities, sharing experiences with other communities, and supporting development within Ltyentye Apurte.
As a key member of the AAAC management team you will drive this program, supported by management, the board, and the community. You will have the opportunity to design a new and exciting program and to support the development and implementation with flexible and interesting activities. You will ensure good communication about the activities, liaise with other stakeholders in the community and also with other communities who run similar programs.
Our community is motivated and keen to improve the lives of community members; we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic to work with us to do everything we can to fulfil the vision of the Ltyentye Apurte Community.
We are looking for someone who has experience working in Aboriginal Communities; if you have the knowledge, skills and experience working with youth, in land management and/or community development; if you have experience in working with a variety of stakeholders, the ability to plan and deliver programs, and proven management skills then this is the role for you. Ideally you will have a degree in land management, community development, youth work, teaching, recreation, anthropology or other relevant qualifications and/or experience.
We provide accommodation, telephone and internet, six weeks leave each year, professional development opportunities, salary sacrifice, and a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
