As part of its commitment to providing quality services, Access Industries employs skilled Training Officers and Welfare Officers to provide or organise additional training and support for its supported employees (i.e. employees who have a disability). This enables supported employees to optimise their work potential and personal skills, and for those wishing to do so, helps to prepare them to move on into open employment.

The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a committed and reliable people leader, looking to take the next step as a Canteen Supervisor to join our Timber Manufacturing facility in Hamilton, NSW.
This is a Part-time permanent role based on-site at Hamilton, NSW, generally working 30 hours per week.
Reporting to the Administration Manager, this important role will be leading the canteen operations to ensure we continuously provide nutritious, hygienically prepared and healthy food to our Hamilton site employees.
What the role would look like:
- Ensure the effective, efficient, and safe operation of the Access Industries - Hamilton Canteen.
- Lead and support up to 5 supported employees.
- Responsible for legislative compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Planning, organising, and monitoring the day-to-day operations of the Canteen, including housekeeping, quality control, rostering staff, daily record-keeping, banking, and cash handling, and opening and closing the Canteen.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety requirements and use of equipment is done in a safe manner, complying with safe work practices and procedures. Ensuring plant and equipment is maintained in safe and in good condition.
- Responsible for cyclical compliance requirements such as liaison with external regulatory bodies for food inspections.
- Collaborating with the Safety and Training Coordinator, this role is responsible for organising induction and training staff in use of equipment, food preparation and hygiene practices in line with relevant legislation and create a pleasant working environment.
- Ensure that stock is kept at appropriate levels and a stocktake is undertaken.
- Ensure prescribed inspections and records for food rotation and temperature controls of refrigerators, ovens, and other canteen equipment are maintained.
- Undergo relevant training and development as per operational needs and changes.
- Support and stand-in for critical Access Industries - Hamilton operational roles during absences.
- Investigate possible improvement inefficiencies and processes in the canteen operations and advise Administration Manager.
- Carry out other projects, responsibilities and authorities as delegated by the Administration Manager.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Demonstrate positive attitude towards people with disabilities in employment.
- Proven experience as a Canteen Supervisor, Hospitality and Food Operations Professional or equivalent.
- Qualification in Food Preparation, such as a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate – or willingness to obtain.
- Exceptional people skills and experience in leading a team.
- Experience in working with people with a disability is desirable but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, management and customer service skills. With the ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy for people from different backgrounds.
- Able to communicate English effectively (written and verbal)
- Strong commitment to safety and proven understanding of WHS Legislation.
- Ability to deal positively with people at all levels in a professional manner.
