THE ORGANISATION

Widely known as ACD Tas [The Association for Children with Disability (Tasmania) Inc], we are a peer-led, not-for-profit, disability specialist family organisation.

We were established in 1998 by a group of parents of children with disability who recognised the need for a professional, state-wide, family advocacy organisation. Today ACD Tas offers independent Information and Training, Advocacy, Case Coordination (NDIS Support Coordination), Consultation, and Peer Support Services to families and children and young people with disability living anywhere in Tasmania. We work alongside parents, carers and guardians, children, and young people with disability, up to twenty-five years of age.

ACD Tas services are delivered by professional staff, who are in many cases, are family peers with lived experience of disability. We work out of our offices in Devonport, Launceston, Hobart.

Our vision is that people with disability, their families and carers have equal opportunity to reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives.

THE ROLE

We are seeking applications from people with NDIS experience and educational qualifications in a human services field, to undertake NDIS Support Coordination duties. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive induction program into our systems and processes.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or proven experience in relevant disciplines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience, of the issues and challenges relevant to people living with all disabilities.
  • A detailed understanding of the support systems designed to support people with disability across various Government and non-Government sectors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and the ability to work within the relevant legislative requirements.
  • A comprehensive level of interpersonal skills, in communicating with stakeholders and team members.
  • The ability to write concise communications and reports, and the ability to accurately record the time spent on activities.
  • Highly developed Computer skills.
  • A full driver’s licence and Working with Vulnerable People (Children) Registration.

ACD Tas offers a competitive salary with attractive salary sacrifice options, (which maximises take-home pay), flexible hours and workplace options. Salary is based on the SCHADS award, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Full-time or job share considered.
