We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Occupational Therapist to join our Black Mountain School Student Engagement Team (SET) to be part of our multidisciplinary team comprising of speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and psychology.
This is an on-site position, and clinicians are required to work on school grounds for the duration of the standard school day, during school terms. Flexible working arrangements may be considered during stand down (school holiday) periods, in consultation with the BMS Director for Allied Health.
Occupational Therapists at Black Mountain School may provide consultation, assessment and intervention in the following areas:
- Equipment prescription including access to technology.
- Environmental accessibility assessment and recommendations.
- Accessible transport assessment and recommendations.
- Sensory processing, self-regulation, and social emotional learning programs for student self-management skills.
- Manual handling practices and training for staff supporting students with additional physical needs.
- Behaviour analysis within a multidisciplinary team to support individual students and classroom cohorts.
- Adaptations for school-based self-care tasks such as feeding, toileting, dressing as well as access to the curriculum including but not limited to physical education and hydrotherapy programs, in school vocational programs (hospitality, horticulture, Woolworths) community-based excursions and programs, and supporting students written output.
- Application of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) structure with a focus on universal supports in the school and classroom in order to support classroom staff (teachers/LSA’s) and students.
- Trauma informed practices.
- Provision of professional learning to all school staff

Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy.
- Current professional registration: Occupational Therapist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Capacity to provide the lifting required for handling and positioning inherent in clinical intervention of clients and trial of equipment, in accordance with the relevant Workplace Health and Safety standards.
- Current drivers licence essential, including access to a private vehicle for work purposes.
