Act for Kids is a prominent provider of free prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for 30 years. In 2017 - 2018 we helped over 40,128 Australians; a 17% increase from the year before.

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the team in our Broadmeadows (Melbourne) office. This is full-time, fixed-term position for a period of 3 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing an outstanding therapeutic service to children, young people and their families in the Melbourne area.
  • Encouraging and strengthening supportive relationships with adult caregivers.
  • Enhancing therapeutic and psycho-social outcomes for children and young people impacted by trauma.
  • Working with other professionals and agencies to enhance client outcomes.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (occupational therapy).
  • Registration as a Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.
  • At least 2yrs experience working with children, young people and their families or at least 2yrs experience working in similar roles.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people and their families.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child and family functioning.
  • Knowledge of current trauma treatment trends and child protection legislation and policy reforms.
  • A high level of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different backgrounds, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Remuneration & Benefits...

Base salary + 9.5% superannuation + excellent salary packaging program (Salary packaging allows team members to significantly increase their take home pay).
