ActionAid is a global women’s rights organisation that empowers women on the frontlines of injustice to mobilise and transform their communities.
We are looking for someone who is creative and digitally savvy for the newly created Communications Officer role at ActionAid Australia, based in Sydney. You’ll work closely with team members across the organisation to create digital content and help us raise the profile of our work on women’s rights and climate justice.
There is huge opportunity to grow in this role. You’ll work closely with the Senior Communications Manager, and will have the chance to develop and learn new skills.

The Communications Officer will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager and other team members across the organisation to create engaging digital content for ActionAid Australia’s social media channels and website, with the aim of growing our digital audiences and brand awareness. In addition to creating content, this role will be responsible for scheduling content, moderating social media channels, and ensuring the organisation’s digital presence is aligned with the latest social media trends.

Experience using social media platforms, such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and organise your work in a dynamic environment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable
Graphic design, photography and video editing skills.
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Proficiency using digital tools for graphic design and video editing.
Experience using website content management systems such as Wordpress.
A degree in a communications, journalism or marketing related discipline.
Experience working in women’s rights and/or climate justice.
