Andrew Braddock, Member for Yerrabi is seeking a Community Engagement and Communications Adviser.

Duties
- Working with the Assembly team, develop, organise and implement community outreach and engagement, and communications strategies for local, electorate and constituent engagement and advocacy, through a range of tactics including petitions, social media, videos, graphic design, digital media and traditional media and events.
- Build and foster connections across your MLA’s electorate, with constituents and the broader Canberra community.
- Engage with constituents, community groups, cultural groups and different audiences, with a view to represent and amplify their voices through the ACT Legislative Assembly through a range of tools including petitions, social media, videos, graphic design, and events.
- Apply evolving best practice in writing, photography, graphic design, and video production to create impactful content.
- Localise policy content to be relevant to the electorate and seek local opportunities to maximise their reach with the community.
- Work collaboratively with the Assembly team and with a high level of autonomy and accountability.
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
- Have a demonstrated commitment, or willingness, to implement ACT Greens principles and policies around ecological sustainability, social justice, peace and non-violence and grassroots participatory democracy.
- Commitment to working in, and contributing to, a positive team culture.
- Manage conflict and difficult conversations.
- Other duties as directed.
Selection criteria
Essential:
- Experience in community engagement and in building and maintaining relationships of trust with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, communities and professions.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound oral and written communication skills, sound organisational skills as well as experience planning, organising and delivering on projects to deadline in a high-pressure environment.
Desirable: (one or more of the following)
- Experience developing digital communications and preparing high quality, engaging copy for digital communications.
- A high level of digital competency, including experience using social platforms, websites and digital communication tools in a professional capacity.
- Experience in or willingness to learn media relations, including developing responses to enquiries, writing media releases, developing and implementing media strategies and proactive media, and liaising with journalists.
- Competence in content creation programs such Canva (or other similar programs), and skills in video and graphic content development for web and social media.
- Connections to the community in the electorate of the MLA you will be working for, or a willingness to develop and foster such connections.
The role will be for the term of the 11th Assembly and is set at Adviser Level 1.
The successful candidate will be engaged under a Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff contract, and other terms and conditions of employment are governed by the ACT Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026. It is not an ACT Public Service position.
