WorkSafe ACT achieves its objectives through a combination of compliance and enforcement, awareness raising, education, inspection and investigation. It is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act), Workers Compensation Act 1951 and Dangerous Substances Act 2004 (DS Act).
WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Commissioner, who is the Territory’s regulator. We are implementing a program of work to improve our operational efficiency and effectiveness. WorkSafe ACT is committed to cultural and organisational change to become a professional, modern, intelligence-led regulator.
Inspectors in the Psychosocial Inspector Team have the opportunity to undertake planned rotation through the various inspector teams within WorkSafe ACT.
The Psychosocial Team is responsible for developing and implementing WHS and wellbeing strategies through the provision of expert information, advice, assistance, education and compliance and enforcement services that contribute to the reduction of harm and/or improved support for injured or ill workers in ACT workplaces.
You will need solid attention to detail and the ability, under limited direction, to manage and complete multiple tasks in collaboration with various stakeholders including unions, industry associations and other government agencies. You will be responsible for building trusted relationships across the Territory to ensure best practices are imbedded in workplaces to increase the safety and health of workers.

Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
