Remote / Work from Home
Advocacy Tasmania (AdvoTas) is a not-for-profit organisation working for over 35 years providing free, independent advocacy services and rights information sessions across Tasmania.
We have two advocacy streams – our older persons advocacy team (OPAT) and our disability, mental health, alcohol & other drugs team (DMAOD).
We are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified people who are interested in being an Advocate and/or working on projects delivering outcomes that advance the rights of vulnerable Tasmanians.
At AdvoTas we believe that no one should have their basic rights denied and we exist to uphold the rights of our clients, to resolve their issues and to achieve fairer outcomes. We are always in our clients’ corner and our work is client directed. As an Advocate, you will need to be passionate about working with people to ensure their voice is heard, be an excellent communicator and a self-starter.
We are keen to hear from you if you’re interested in rights-based project work and experience in Supported Decision-Making processes or supporting clients in the disability employment space would be highly regarded.
You will need to live in Tasmania but the location is flexible and will be determined by the preferred candidate. Fulltime or part-time opportunities will be considered. As AdvoTas operates under a Work from Home (WFH) model, you will need to be happy working from home however you will also need to work with a variety of stakeholders within the community.
These positions are classified at level 5 in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (from July 2024 - 5.1 $97,377, 5.2 $99,471, 5.3 $101,783). In addition to the above salary, we also have great salary packaging options – tax free salary packaging that increases ‘take home’ pay, 17.5% annual leave loading and superannuation. Depending upon funding a contract term of up to four years may be offered.
