Role Summary

The Growth Team Officer will be responsible for recruiting members in schools, pre-schools and universities. They will work as part of the Growth, Training and Membership Team. They will also assist the Training Officers in associated activities such as training of new teachers and visits to universities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and retention of permanent, casual, part-time and unemployed teachers and ancillary staff. Including a focus on recruiting student members and moving them as appropriate to full membership upon gaining employment.
  • Working with new teachers, SSO’s, and other new potential members to facilitate union membership.
  • Communicating with potential members by phone to facilitate union membership.
  • Keeping specific records of recruitment and providing reports as requested by the Branch Secretary.
  • Working as part of the Growth, Training and Membership Team.
  • Visiting worksites independently and with Officers, and if required as part of a blitz model of school/workplace recruitment.
  • Mapping and Post mapping of workplace visits and follow up communications towards effective recruitment outcomes.

Officers may be required to undertake other duties as requested by the Branch Secretary.

Administrative Officers are appointed by AEUSA Branch Council for the term of office as specified in the job advertisement. A successful applicant is eligible for appointment for further terms.

  • Three nominees of Branch Council

Notwithstanding any decision of the Review Committee, an applicant who is a member of the AEUSA can bring their nomination personally to the attention of Branch Council.

A formal resolution of Branch Council is required to appoint an Administrative Officer. The appointment process is set out in full in AEU Federal Branch Rule 21.
