People & Culture Manager

Raisely

Raisely powers online fundraising for ambitious charities across the world. We’re a mission-driven remote team, spread across 6 countries and 11 cities.

We’re growing rapidly, but we’re not just any high-growth startup. Here you’ll have the flexibility of working from wherever you’re happiest, supported by a passionate, talented team. You’ll use your skills to significantly expand our international reach and help charities of all sizes raise money to fund their important work, all while building a well-balanced company that puts values first.

If you’re excited about the challenge of a dynamic startup and want your work to have a huge impact on the world, then we hope you’ll consider working with us.

A bit about us:

We’re Raisely! We help charities raise money online. Our platform helps charities build fundraising campaigns, run donation appeals, and nurture their supporters. We make it easy to get started and scale-up, without needing technical help.

We started Raisely because charities have been underserved by technology for too long. We set out to change that, and so far we’ve helped raise over $100m.

We’re a team of 20-turning-40 as we rapidly grow our company (and impact). With your help, we’re hoping to raise $1bn in the next few years and rapidly scale-out, supporting charities small and large in countries across the world.

Oh and one more thing. We walk this impact talk. We’re a proud B-corp, and purpose is baked into our constitution. We’re carbon neutral, and we’re starting our anti-racism journey to ensure we’re actively undoing centuries of systemic racism.

A bit about the role:

As our first People & Culture Manager, you’ll work as part of our Operations team with our CEO and Finance Director. Your mission? To build a best-practice, effective, and empowering people ops function at Raisely.

We’re growing rapidly, with ambitious goals to serve thousands of charities across the world with the tech they need to hit their fundraising goals. We’ve got this far by building a remarkable team and culture, but we need your help to scale it up to the next level.

On the People side, you’ll be responsible for growing our team. You’ll work across our company to identify new roles, shape them up, recruit the best people into them, and successfully onboard them into Raisely. You’ll develop talent pipelines, and help market Raisely to our future teammates.

Then on the Culture side, you’ll be focussed on making sure Raisely stays a dream place to work as we grow. You’ll lead our bi-annual retreats (IRL when COVID lets us), keep our policies up to scratch, and ensure that everyone who works here is empowered to bring their best.

Across the board, you’ll drive forward initiatives that make us a better business – from building a diverse team to ensuring we pay fairly. You’ll keep us accountable, and hold us to our values.

Ideally, this is a full-time role based in Australia. However, if you’re based elsewhere that’s in a compatible timezone and feel you’re a perfect fit, we’re still interested in hearing from you.

If you worked here over the past few months, you might have:

  • Advertised and recruited for dozens of different roles, from engineering to customer success.
  • Implemented a new onboarding process to make sure our new teammates weren’t thrown in the deep end.
  • Worked with team leads to predict and shape our next roles, and start planning for their recruitment
  • Planned our week-long virtual retreat, where you brought our team together across 6 different timezones!
  • Introduced nearly 10 new people into our team, and made sure they were well supported over their first few weeks
  • Managed our training and development budget, ensuring it was well allocated with guidelines for its use
  • Offered advice, and been a sounding board for our team when needed
  • Championed our unique value proposition for employees to cultivate a talent pipeline that’ll serve us well as we grow
  • Joined in on our regular social games sessions. You beat the shiny boss worm, you hero.

Now about you…

  • You know how to build a high-performing P+C function.

You have at least 4 years of experience working in people, culture, or recruitment roles. You’ve experienced a wide range of different situations, and you’re able to work through opportunities independently. We don’t expect you to have it all figured out, but you’ve got a good idea of what you want to build here.

  • You’re familiar with recruiting for a software startup

Recruitment comes easily to you. You know the tricks, can build the networks and have a proven track record of finding great people. You understand the shape of a SaaS company, you know how to find engineers, and you run a tight recruitment process.

  • You’re a big people person

I mean why wouldn’t you be, your career is all about people! You bring energy to every team you’ve joined, you’re a great listener, and provide calm, well-considered advice. You’re pumped to help everyone you work with be their best and are ready to create an environment where everyone thrives.

  • You’re across policies, pay, and good compliance

You’re familiar with Australian employment rules, and you know how to operate within them. It’d be a bonus if you’ve worked in a remote, international company before too.

  • You care about making a difference

Yeah, we’re all here because we want to make the world better (and by that we mean a carbon-neutral utopia with world peace and just laws, where all people are treated the same with equal opportunity to thrive). So you’ve gotta want that too!

Ok, and why work with us?

You spend nearly 2,000 hours of your life at work, each year. That’s a huge commitment, so we can promise that every hour you’re spending with Raisely, you’re making the world a better place. Pretty great perk, hey?

Plus, the more you help us grow, the bigger our impact gets. And by that, we’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars big.

Working at Raisely is unique. If you have a great idea, we’ll help you make it happen. In this role, you’ll be the enabler of our growth. You’ll help us scale our impact to entirely new heights.

If you needed more convincing, here’s the rest of it:

  • Salary – We try to pay above-average salaries anchored to similar jobs in Sydney, Australia. We’re open to a wide range of experience for this role, and we’d offer AU$93,000 - $121,000 a year based on experience (including super for Australian employees).
  • Ownership – We are focussed on building Raisely as a team, so we’ll offer you the chance to be a part-owner of the company with our Employee Share Scheme.
  • Technology – We’ll get you a laptop and screen when you start, plus help you set up your home office.
  • Retreats – Every 6-ish months we fly you somewhere pretty for our team retreats. (Once we’re safely able to again)
  • Annual Leave – Everyone gets 4 weeks paid leave plus 11 days of public holidays, to be taken when you like. Plus, you are entitled to generous paid sick leave.
  • Work remotely – We’re a remote-first company - live and work wherever you’re happiest. We’ll cover a coworking space if you’d like to work there.
  • Flexibility – We’ll work with you to figure out hours that work with you, and we’re flexible when life gets in the way.
  • Training – We’ll support you with time when you want to learn new skills or pay for conference or course tickets.
