Alacrity Health are looking for peer & mental health support workers across all areas of Melbourne! Please note that this position is currently casual. However, opportunities for PT/FT are available in the future.

Please note the following requirements:

  • This is mental health specific and requires a background/education in the mental health field, including Cert IV (minimum), diploma, or bachelor degree in a relevant mental health field (mental health, community services, psychology, social work, etc.)
  • You will require a vehicle and relevant license
  • You must be available for a minimum of 15 hours per week on weekdays

This position forms part of our Mental Health Support Work team that specialise in supporting people with psychosocial disability inside the NDIS, however additional duties, should you be interested, involve attending Alacrity Health day trips, retreats, and other fun activities.

Our community support team (CSW) provides 1:1 or group assistance, utilising their experience to give trauma-informed care to our participants with mental ill health.

Our peer work team (PSW) operates similarly but utilising their lived experience as a crucial part of their role.

Please note that for the outreach component of your role, you will need to use your own vehicle. Travel reimbursements for this are paid on top of your remuneration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery and Development:

  • Empower participants with therapeutic supports involving 1:1 mental health support, and support participants to gain/maintain independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, etc.
  • Working collaboratively with consumers to identify their needs, set goals and develop a plan to meet those goals

Administration:

  • Record case notes as required
  • Completing reports and client assessments

Professional Development:

  • Participate in Practice Development sessions (supervision) with manager
  • Actively work to improve identified skill areas

IN ADDITION, YOU WILL IDEALLY HAVE:

  • A tertiary or other qualification, or experience in a related field
  • An NDIS Worker screening check (undertaken prior to commencement)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights including evidence of vaccinations (triple as of 02/2022)
  • Current Australian Drivers license and vehicle with insurance
  • Computer literacy
