The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA) is a federal employee organisation with offices in NSW, Victoria and Queensland. We represent Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and other select roles in the aviation industry. We are seeking a motivated industrial officer to join our team.
The role involves:
- Representing members in:
- Workplace disputes
- Enterprise agreement negotiations
- Contract negotiations
- Unfair dismissals
- Disciplinary processes
- dispute resolution
- Proceedings before the Fair Work Commission
- Provision of assistance and advice to all levels of the union on industrial matters
- Working collaboratively with other staff, elected officials and workplace representatives
- Research, preparation and advocacy before the Fair Work Commission
Essential
- Applicants will need to possess or be eligible to obtain a Aviation Security Identification Card
- Applicants will need to eligible to obtain a Right of Entry Permit from the Fair Work Commission
- Hold a valid Australian driver’s licence
- Be a permanent resident of Australia
- Have a commitment to unionism
- Sound oral and written communication
- Ability to work within a small team, including commitment to teamwork, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships
- Ability to acquire, or knowledge, of employment law and industrial legislation
- Ability to acquire a working knowledge of Civil Aviation legislation
- Ability to interpret enterprise agreements, employment contracts, policies and legislation
- Computer literacy and ability to learn Microsoft 365

- Experience in aviation
- Experience in industrial relations or unionism
- Experience in negotiation and advocacy
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law or industrial relations
