Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

Psychological Trauma Service (PTS)

The Psychological Trauma Service (PTS) is a new service which aims at providing an innovative, holistic, flexible and empowering space for consumers and carers with a living experience of complex trauma. It aspires to develop both peer and clinician led support options within an integrated stepped care approach to recovery.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will play an instrumental part in developing and shaping a trauma service together with other senior team members and the leadership team. You will provide direct clinical services including assessment and evidence-based therapy/therapies to consumers of the PTS. In addition, you will provide secondary consultation and systemic support to AMAH teams, supervise junior staff and students and you will be involved in the provision of education/training in the area of complex trauma/personality disorders.

About you

• Master or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
• Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
• Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009 or working towards endorsement as part of the Psychology Board of Australia registrar program
• Five years’ clinical work experience as a clinical psychologist
• Skills and experience in the provision of at least one evidence-based treatment for personality disorders /trauma focused treatment - e.g. DBT, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Schema Therapy, EMDR.
• Experience in secondary consultation
• Skills and experience in the provision of at least one evidence-based trauma focused treatment such as trauma focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, EMDR, schema therapy, somatic therapies, working with dissociation and parts, internal family systems.
• Skills and experience in the development of management/safety plans for people with complex trauma/ personality vulnerability.
• Australian working rights
• Full Covid-19 and 2023 Influenza vaccination
• Current Victorian Driver's License
• Current Working with Children Check and be willing to undergo a Background Check
