Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.
headspace Early Psychosis is an innovative and comprehensive youth early psychosis program being delivered through one program in each Australian state. Through this initiative, young people and their families have timely access to comprehensive evidence-based early psychosis services. This program aims to intervene early with young people who have unusual sensory experiences and/or beliefs and their families and supporters. The service builds on strengths and resilience, uses the wisdom of lived experience and fosters hope, potential, and recovery.
Bentleigh headspace Early Psychosis is a dynamic team, seeking to work differently with young people and their families in the area. We value collaborative work and therapeutic interventions. We have a strong and inclusive team culture that seeks to develop staff and improve outcomes for the people we care for.
As a Youth Peer Worker, you will draw from your own lived experience of mental health challenges to act as a recovery champion within the headspace Youth Program team and across our services. In this role, you will be responsible for providing one-to-one support to young people. Please note this is not a clinical role.
As a Youth Peer Worker, you will also work with and alongside clinical teams. Whilst youth peer workers are not clinicians, they are a much valued part of our team. Our Youth Peer Workers have a key responsibility to help inform our service design and delivery. In this context, sharing insights that are drawn from your own lived experience may be really important in enabling another staff member or team to develop an understanding of a person's situation or how we may be working and the potential impact of this on a young person's experience.
