About the Role:

Allambee is recruiting for an Intake Counsellor to provide specialist triage assessment, case management, advocacy and counselling interventions for clients referred into Allambee's therapeutic services.

The Intake Counsellor provides case management support and direct-client support to clients waiting for services and clients engaged in Allambee’s group-based programs.

You will be part of an enthusiastic, dynamic, and supportive team that is committed making a real difference to the lives of individuals, children, young people, and families impacted by interpersonal violence.

Key Responsibilities:

(Dependent on role/program):

  • Comprehensive triage screening of new referrals including: risk assessment and safety planning; eligibility for Allambee services; assessment of severity and complexity of needs; priority and/or waitlist status; and other support needs
  • Provision of crisis and brief interventions for clients requiring immediate support.
  • Support the management of referrals via consultation/liaison with referring parties and an integrated/collaborative approach to care and case management
  • Support the management of waitlist for Allambee services to ensure clients receive timely access to services and are appropriately supported while waiting for services
  • Assist clients to access support from other health and community services as appropriate
  • Support the delivery and development of groups and workshops for clients, professionals, and other as needed.
  • Interagency consultation and collaborative case management
  • Active engagement in reflective practice, clinical supervision and professional development.

About You:

Allambee is looking for a passionate, motivated individual who either has experience in working with trauma or who has experience in counselling/triage roles and is looking to make a move into this specialised area.

The role is part-time of 3 days/week. Hours are 8:30am-4:30pm. Days negotiable.

Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling or related discipline with knowledge and experience relevant to the role and eligibility for membership in the relevant professional association.
  • Strong skills in completing individual and family assessments, particularly in relation to risk/safety, trauma and mental health.
  • 12 months or more experience in in providing counselling interventions to children, adolescents and/or adults.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of trauma informed care and practice
  • An understanding of family and domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse and the impacts of trauma consistent with best practice theoretical frameworks
  • Understanding and appreciation of issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from CALD backgrounds
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.

The successful candidate must have current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check (or equivalent), and a current WA Driver’s Licence (or equivalent).
