Animal Liberation was formed in 1976, making it Australia's longest running animal rights organisation. We are a vegan charity whose mission is to encourage people to live without exploiting animals. 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Managing social media including creating content, providing campaign assistance, graphic design, CRM and website management.

Position Details:

  • Full time 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
    • Probation: 6 months
  • Salary: $60,000 per annum which includes super and $100 per month working from home allowance
  • Position reports to: Animal Liberation’s Chief Executive Officer
  • Location: Remote

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing AL’s Social Media:

  • Manage Animal Liberation’s social media presence.
  • Source, create and publish content on Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok accounts.
  • Content creation, including both graphics and video.
  • Write copy for socials.
  • Emails to subscribers: Prepare, design, and send a monthly e-newsletter, plus other campaign update/donation emails.
  • Assist with other irregular communications, with members/supporters.

Provide Campaign Assistance:

  • Assist campaign managers – from idea generation to setting up actions, writing content, and creating social content and campaign documents.
  • Collaborate with Animal Liberation staff to produce annual reports, magazines, campaign plans, and other key documents.

Graphic Design:

  • Design promotional materials for campaigns, stalls, workshops, forums, and events: flyers, banners, pamphlets, booklets, slides, etc.

CRM Management:

  • Manage the action, membership, and e-subscriber database – Action Network and Salesforce.

Website Management:

  • Produce new educational resources for Animal Liberation campaigns, and update existing resources as required.
  • Research, write and post blog articles on a range of animal rights issues and campaigns.
  • Maintain and update the Squarespace website, as required – updating articles, submission page, blogs/media releases, homepage, campaign pages, etc.

Other Duties:

  • Ensure accuracy of work and content.
  • Use Animal Liberation’s voice: match language and style.
  • Report on email deliverability and social media results – present ideas on how to improve.
  • Responding to comments and queries (social and emails).
  • Routinely monitor various media sources for content relevant to animal rights and share both internally and externally as appropriate.
  • Regularly consult with other key stakeholders and animal rights/welfare groups, regarding campaigns and events.
  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of animal rights issues, for inclusion in organisational resources, publications, and communications.
  • Contribute to regular staff meetings and participate in other mechanisms for increasing organisational knowledge, informing organisational direction, and evaluating organisational output.
  • Assist with event planning and at the events – fundraiser events, webinars, and public meetings.
  • Manage volunteers where appropriate – reaching out to volunteers, assigning tasks, and regular check-ins.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Personal dedication to animal rights, strong passion for animal protection and understanding of key issues.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications.
  • Experience working in communication/marketing/social media/digital marketing/charity.
  • Flexibility and ability to jump between tasks, effective time management: establish priorities, organise workload, manage time and meet deadlines agreed to with supervisor.
  • Effective file management, including archiving – especially for footage and campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of social media and digital technology.
  • Graphic design and video editing - competence in Adobe Creative Suite/Canva.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently (strong initiative).
  • You are comfortable working on time-critical activities.
  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, and AL policies and procedures.
  • Are accustomed to a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be able to cope and work with graphic and distressing content.
  • Ability to work remotely.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Fundraising experience is desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience running social media ads.
  • Experience with CRM databases, websites, communications software.
