- Salary Range: $141,973 to $151,252 + Super + Salary Packaging

In this key role you will lead the ALS’s involvement in justice reinvestment across NSW, fostering partnerships between Aboriginal communities and justice stakeholders. You will oversee a team of Community Partnerships Officers, developing frameworks for sustainable initiatives. You will play a lead role in collaborating with Just Reinvest NSW to support local and regional justice action plans.
Each day, you can expect to:
- Lead and manage a team of Community Partnerships Officers
- Develop and oversee individual and team work plans to effectively manage resources, workload and ensure project deliverables are on track.
- Develop tools and resources to support data collection and reporting in relation to site-based actions to support the delivery of the local Aboriginal Justice Partnership project.
- Provide input to the development of policy frameworks, models and options supporting justice reinvestment and local, regional and state-based justice partnerships in NSW
- Contribute to the development of guidelines, work plans and strategies to support the development and implementation of local justice plans.
- Develop and implement relationships, mechanisms and strategies to ensure that justice reinvestment on a local level is informed by the unique expertise of the ALS
- Ensure that local justice plans and Aboriginal Justice Partnership project outputs are informed by community consultation
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with internal ALS stakeholders
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with Just Reinvest NSW, members of NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO), government agencies and other partner organisations
- Support effective engagement with Aboriginal communities across NSW to ensure local voices and aspirations inform project outputs and other ALS activities.
- Develop high quality and timely advice, briefings, resource materials, project plans and reports
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to reporting, monitoring and evaluation of programs.
- Represent the ALS in meetings with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support the development of community-led place-based justice reinvestment initiatives
Who Are We Looking For?
You identify and are recognised as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and have demonstrated experience leading a team of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander staff members. With previous professional experience gained in the criminal justice space, you will understand the impacts on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and the need for community led change.
Your professional experience should demonstrate expertise in the following areas:
- Lived experience of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture and social needs
- Leadership experience operationally managing and supporting a team of Aboriginal staff, including providing supervision and professional development
- Deep understanding of the criminal justice system and its impacts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Demonstrated experience working with and alongside Aboriginal communities in a community organising, community development or advocacy capacity.
- Demonstrated experience planning and implementing community engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to create strong, trusted relationships and advocate with influence.
- Experience developing and producing effective team and individual work plans, project plans, service models, reports, policies and guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to speak publicly, gain community confidence and share ideas to support change.
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software – Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to travel across NSW to support staff based at a range of locations
