Mito Foundation is an established charity dedicated to improving health outcomes and quality of life for people impacted by mitochondrial disease (mito).

Mito is a potentially fatal genetic disorder that robs the body's cells of the energy they need to thrive. 1 in 200 people, or more than 135,000 Australians, have genetic changes that put them at risk of developing mitochondrial disease. At least one Australian child born every 6 days will develop a severe or life-threatening form mito.

This role is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position based in Sydney.

Responsibilities of the role (not limited to):

  • Creating high-calibre communications across digital, print, and social media (including copywriting and graphic design).
  • Email building and sending, database management and segmentation, email journey set-up and optimisation.
  • Engaging with the community across social media channels.
  • Assisting in delivering online and in-person community events and stakeholder consultation initiatives.
  • Reporting on campaigns and communications performance, providing insights and recommending improvements.

About you:

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in managing communications and marketing functions
  • Digital marketing tools proficiency: Meta Business Manager, Google Ads, email, CRM (preferably Salesforce).
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in social media content and campaign development.
  • Skill in aligning communication with organisational goals.
  • Experience in website management and content development.
  • Experience in managing relevant external suppliers e.g. printers, designers, PR agencies, etc.
  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, or experience in a relevant field.

The following are advantageous:

  • Experience in email and lifecycle marketing.
  • An understanding of media and journalism.
  • Intermediate skill level in graphic design with experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Peer-2-Peer Fundraising platforms experience.
  • Experience in health communications and/or with the medical and research community.
