About the role

We are seeking applications for a Projects and Policy Officer position. If successful, you will take responsibility for facilitating and collaborating on a range of projects within our Knowledge Centre and undertake applied research to support policy responses, and contribute to specific projects with limited direction. Contribution to tender bids and for small grants is also required.

To be considered for this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

  • A relevant Degree in Social Science or related field and/or with a research component; and experience in writing for external audiences
  • Skills and successful experience in undertaking small applied research projects and / or contributing as part of a research team to large projects and tender/grant submissions
  • Excellent demonstrated project management and organisational skills including capacity to consult, collaborate, plan, action, review and improve and to complete deliverables on time and to a high standard
  • Excellent writing skills to produce clear, concise and well organised reports and submissions for a range of purposes and audiences
  • Ability to design and undertake qualitative and quantitative research including experience in use of data analysis software
  • Demonstrated successful analytical skills with an ability to think strategically in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and support the effective work of volunteers and interns
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly to achieve results in fluid policy contexts as well as contribute to a team
  • Capacity and willingness to learn new skills and incorporate new knowledge and work in new areas
  • Demonstrated positive values of integrity, reliability, teamwork and professionalism consistent with the AMES Australia Vision and Mission and demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement principles
