This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Philanthropy Team for the Australian section of the world’s largest independent human rights organisation, on a parental leave contract until March 2024.

In this unique role you will be an ambassador for the work of Amnesty International Australia (AI Australia) to high value stakeholders, effectively presenting our work in a variety of communication forms to secure financial gifts.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Philanthropy you will act as a key member of the fundraising leadership team, you will lead the planning, development and implementation of our long-term major donor and corporate partnership fundraising strategy. This includes ensuring an ongoing pipeline of new high capacity donors. The salary for this position is $127,942 plus super and NFP salary packaging.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing Philanthropy team members including recruitment, development, providing direction, feedback, coaching
  • Engaging in high level engagement and relationships with donors, prospects, Board and other key stakeholders, including the direct solicitation of significant gifts
  • Set, achieve and measure annual and long-term KPIs, Return on Investment (ROI) and Life-Time Value (LTV) for major gift
  • Monitoring industry trends, including ensuring the participation in and reviewing of sector research (e.g. benchmarking and industry trends)
  • Ensuring a rigorous move management process is in place for team, including regular monitoring of targets, clear income and activity targets, and monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Taking lead responsibility for the development of Amnesty’ International Australia’s Corporate Partnership Strategy and securing multi-year National partnerships to support the organisation’s human rights impact
  • Collaborating closely with the International Secretariat and relevant Regional/National bodies to build a successful program
  • Working closely with Supporter Engagement and global colleagues, in particular for develop compelling content, brand consistency and for ongoing data insights
  • Developing principal proposals for key strategic donors, partners and trusts / foundations

You will have:

  • Demonstrated track record of identifying, developing and securing high value gifts from major donors
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills
  • Knowledge of human right issues and ability to present issues to diverse audiences
  • High level communication & interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Experience developing and implementing a Corporate Partnership strategy
  • High level budgeting and forecasting
  • High level of experience of moves management and best practice gift solicitation
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurship and creativity in delivering projects and outcomes
  • Experience with data hygiene, analytics and insights
  • Influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects towards achievement of agreed outcomes, including with external stakeholders
  • Established networks and ability to network
